A group of Viet Nam Veterans and Rotary are teaming with KWB to build schools in Viet Nam.

The Spring Valley Rotary Club is sponsoring a 2007 International Project to build a school in the Mekong Delta Region of Vietnam.  This project is called S.T.E.P. (Schools To End Poverty) and a fundraising program is currently underway for this project.  The project includes construction of a 3-room schoolhouse with kitchen facilities, showers, toilets, and an operational clean water system. Site construction is scheduled to begin this June with a completion and dedication ceremony anticipated for early November.  This school will help provide educational services for approximately 500 students, on a daily split session, in an area where the annual per capita income is $541.00 and where human trafficking is a major problem.

Spring Valley Rotarians and members of the local Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 333, recently visited Middle School to present the details of this school building project. The Veterans also provided the faculty and students with a presentation about the human toll and the terrible effects of war, as told firsthand, by this group of local Vietnam Veterans.  The faculty and students were so moved by our presentation that they decided to assist in the building project.
